Long-Term Benefits of Exercise on PD Outcomes Increased physical activity was strongly associated with better performance in daily activities, faster cognitive processing, improved posture stability, balance, and gait. A study that followed 237 patients over five years found that those with early-stage Parkinson’s disease who were more active experienced better physical outcomes compared to those who were less active. In the long term, consistently maintaining high levels of physical activity and exercise was strongly linked to a more favorable clinical progression of Parkinson's disease, with each type of activity offering distinct benefits.
